Maitake Mushroom

What it actually is

A large edible mushroom, Grifola frondosa, known in Japan as the dancing mushroom and long used in East Asian cooking and traditional medicine. In supplements it appears as a dried, powdered fruiting body.

What it does in the body

Maitake contains beta-glucans, a type of soluble fibre that has been studied for its interaction with the immune system. The research is promising rather than settled — treat it as a nutritious whole food, not a remedy.

Where else to get it

Fresh maitake is hard to find in India. Button, oyster and shiitake mushrooms from any supermarket contain beta-glucans too, and are worth eating on their own merits.

In the formula

Works alongside shiitake in the same blend; both are there for the fibre and the micronutrients as much as anything else.

KABO does not publish a milligram-by-milligram breakdown of every micronutrient, so this page describes what the ingredient is and what it is needed for rather than how much of it a serving contains. The full ingredient list is printed on every pack and set out at kabo.co.in/pages/ingredients. This is general nutrition information, not medical advice — if you are pregnant, managing a medical condition or taking medication, talk to your doctor before changing what you take.
