Flax Seeds

What it actually is

Ground alsi — small brown seeds that are among the richest plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid, the plant form of omega-3. Ground is the operative word: whole flax seeds pass through you largely undigested.

What it does in the body

Supplies plant omega-3 and both soluble and insoluble fibre. Worth knowing honestly: your body converts ALA into the EPA and DHA it actually uses at a low and variable rate, so flax is not a like-for-like substitute for fish oil.

Where else to get it

Roasted alsi powder stirred into curd or sprinkled on sabzi is a common North Indian habit and an excellent one. Chia and walnuts are the other good plant sources.

In the formula

This is where the omega-3 in the formula comes from — there is no fish anywhere in KABO.

KABO does not publish a milligram-by-milligram breakdown of every micronutrient, so this page describes what the ingredient is and what it is needed for rather than how much of it a serving contains. The full ingredient list is printed on every pack and set out at kabo.co.in/pages/ingredients. This is general nutrition information, not medical advice — if you are pregnant, managing a medical condition or taking medication, talk to your doctor before changing what you take.
