KABO for Cafés: A High-Protein Menu Item in 90 Seconds

Your customers are asking for protein. Most café menus answer with a cold coffee and a sandwich. KABO lets you add a genuinely high-protein drink or bowl to the menu — 25 g of complete plant protein per serving — without a blender, a skilled barista, or a fridge full of ingredients that spoil.

The health-conscious customer is no longer a niche. They read labels, they ask whether something is vegan or dairy-free, and they will pay for a drink that does something for them. A menu line that says 25 g protein, vegan, no added sugar from sweeteners gives them a reason to choose your café over the next one.

What goes into the glass

KABO is an all-in-one nutrition shake. One 54 g serving carries 25 g of complete plant protein, 26 vitamins and minerals, 4 g of fibre, 8 billion probiotics and 60+ real ingredients, at about 198 kcal. It is 100% vegan, with no dairy, soy or gluten, no artificial sweeteners and no added preservatives, and it mixes with water or milk in about 90 seconds. Customers rate it 4.88 out of 5, and more than 10,000 people drink it every month.

For a café, three things in that list matter most. It is vegan and free of dairy, soy and gluten, so one product serves almost every dietary request at the counter. It has no artificial sweeteners, which customers increasingly check for. And it takes about 90 seconds to prepare.

Prep in 90 seconds, no blender needed

A serving is one 54 g scoop shaken with 250–300 ml of cold water or milk. That is the whole recipe for the base shake. A shaker bottle is enough; a blender is optional and only needed for bowls and blended drinks with ice or fruit.

  • No fresh produce to waste. The powder keeps on the shelf; you open a pack when you need it.
  • Consistent every time. One scoop, one measure of liquid. The serving tastes the same on the morning shift and the night shift.
  • Any staff member can make it. No training beyond the recipe card we send.

The margin, worked through honestly

We will not promise you a margin, because it depends on your trade price, your menu price and what else goes in the glass. What we can do is show you how to work it out. Here is an example with every assumption labelled, so you can replace our numbers with yours.

Reference point: at regular retail, one KABO serving costs a consumer about ₹158–200, depending on pack size (₹9,499 for 60 shakes is about ₹158 each; ₹2,999 for 15 is about ₹200). Trade pricing is below retail and is quoted on application, based on your volume and city.

Line Example only — replace with your numbers
KABO serving (your trade price) T — below the ₹158–200 retail cost per serving; quoted to you
Milk, 250 ml (if used) Your cost, e.g. ₹15–20
Ice, cup, lid, straw Your cost, e.g. ₹8–12
Menu price for a 350 ml KABO shake P — your call; price it against the cold coffees and smoothies already on your menu
Gross margin per shake P − T − milk − packaging

Two things usually move the arithmetic in your favour. First, a bowl or a blended drink sells at a higher menu price than a plain shake, while the KABO cost per serving stays the same. Second, a protein add-on — half a serving stirred into an existing smoothie or cold coffee — lets you upsell a drink you already sell. Ask us to model both with your actual quote.

Four menu items a café can sell

1. KABO Protein Cold Coffee

Uses: Butter Coffee · Prep: under 2 minutes

One scoop of Butter Coffee shaken with 250 ml chilled milk (or oat milk for a vegan version) and a shot of espresso if you want it stronger, poured over ice. It sits naturally next to your existing cold coffees — and carries 25 g of protein, which they don't.

2. Berry Protein Smoothie Bowl

Uses: White Chocolate Blueberry · Prep: about 3 minutes, blender

One scoop blended with a frozen banana and a little milk or curd until thick, topped with seasonal fruit, a spoon of seeds and a sprinkle of granola. A breakfast or brunch item at a bowl price point.

3. Post-Workout Shake

Uses: any flavour · Prep: 90 seconds

One scoop shaken with 300 ml cold water or milk. The simplest item on the menu, and the one regulars from the gym down the road will order on the way home. Add a banana for a recovery version.

4. High-Protein Breakfast Bowl

Uses: Butter Coffee or White Chocolate Blueberry · Prep: about 2 minutes

One scoop stirred into a bowl of thick curd or overnight oats, topped with nuts and fruit. Built for the customer who wants a filling breakfast they can eat at the counter in ten minutes.

Every partner café gets a staff recipe card with these four, plus quantities and variations. If you want something built around your existing menu, we'll work it out with you.

What your café gets

  • Trade pricing below retail, quoted on your volume and city.
  • Menu cards and table tents that explain the shake to customers in one line.
  • A staff recipe card for the four menu items above, with quantities.
  • A listing as a KABO partner café, so customers looking for KABO near them can find you.
  • Help at launch — suggested menu wording and the nutrition facts your customers will ask about.

Why your customers will order it

Most people miss their protein most at breakfast, and many are swapping a meal for something quicker — the reason breakfast replacement drinks have become a category of their own. A café that serves a drink with real protein, real fibre and real micronutrients, made in front of them, is offering something they currently buy in a tub and drink alone at home.

And because KABO covers protein, vitamins and minerals, fibre and probiotics in one serving, the menu line does more than "protein shake" — which is the argument behind one shake instead of ten pills.

What margin can a café make on a KABO shake?
