Editorial & Nutrition Standards
How KABO researches, writes, fact-checks, and corrects the nutrition information we publish. Last updated: June 2026.
Our mission
KABO publishes practical, India-specific nutrition guidance. Our goal is to be genuinely useful and accurate — not to chase rankings with thin content. Where a topic is health-related, we keep advice general and encourage readers to consult a doctor or registered dietitian for their personal situation.
How we research
Health and nutrition claims in our articles are drawn from recognised, authoritative sources, and we link to them so you can verify. The sources we rely on include:
-
ICMR-NIN (Indian Council of Medical Research – National Institute of Nutrition) for India-specific requirements (RDAs, dietary guidelines).
-
WHO and FAO for global standards (e.g. protein quality / PDCAAS-DIAAS).
-
NIH / PubMed / NCBI peer-reviewed literature.
-
USDA FoodData Central and IFCT for food composition data.
- Reputable health publishers such as Healthline, Mayo Clinic and Harvard Health for plain-language explanations.
We do not invent statistics, studies, or quotes. If we cannot attribute a figure to a real source, we state it qualitatively or leave it out.
How we write and review
Articles are produced by the KABO Nutrition Team, checked against the sources above, and medically reviewed by Dr. Nikhil Panchal, MD (Cardiology) — a qualified medical doctor — before publishing. Health-adjacent articles also carry a note to consult your own doctor or a registered dietitian for advice specific to you. (Dr. Panchal reviews for medical accuracy; he is a physician, not a dietitian, and our guidance remains general.)
How we verify product claims
Any statement we make about KABO products is checked against the actual product label and nutrition panel, our FSSAI compliance, and our third-party test reports — not against marketing copy. For example, KABO is naturally sweetened with no artificial sweeteners; it is not "sugar-free" and does contain a small amount of added sugar. We state this plainly rather than overclaim.
Transparency on comparisons
When an article compares products or recommends a "best" option, we disclose that KABO is our own product, and we compare on objective criteria. We do not publish fabricated competitor specifications, prices, or rankings.
Our corrections policy
We fix errors quickly and openly. When we recently found that a product description had inaccurately used the phrase "no added sugar," we corrected it to the accurate "no artificial sweeteners" across our website within hours, and updated our review process so product claims are checked against the label first. If you spot something that looks wrong, email us and we will review it.
